V da means "doctrine" and "way"; vijn na means "consciousness" and "discernment." Hence, "Vijn nav da" may be rendered as "Consciousness Doctrine" or "Discernment Way"; though it is commonly rendered as "Knowledge Way." The Yog c ra is, along with the M dhyamaka, one of the two principal schools of Nepalese and Indian Mah y na Buddhism. Masaaki (2005) states: "ccording to the Sa dhinirmocana S tra, the first Yog c ra text, the Buddha set the 'wheel of the doctrine' (Dharmacakra) in motion three times."
