The title refers as much to the writer's point of view as to the subject-matter, and by it he would suggest that the Anglo-Irishman has been left a good deal out of account in recent years, any return to his point of view, or indeed any mention of him, seeming to strike a dissonant note in the melodious concord of the Irish Literary Renascence. Perhaps, however, "Irish Ireland," deceived by that acquiescent habit of mind which has characterized the Anglo-Irishman since the Union, needs to be reminded that he is still there.
