Description:BRI continues with its indexing mission, providing access to reviews of books, periodicals, and books-on-tape, from publications in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Cited reviews are from 500-plus sources: reviewing journals, general interest publications, scholarly and literary journals, and electronic publications. A total of 136,400 citations, for 76,500 titles, are organized by the name of the author of the reviewed book, with further access via a title index. BRI defines "reviews" broadly to include critical commentaries as well as descriptive annotations. New to this edition is a change in how reviews are described in terms of size; there are now three ranges: 1 to 50 words, 51 to 500 words, and over 501 words-so that users can be alerted to very long or very short reviews. This reference, of course, is cited in Books for College Libraries, 3d ed. and Guide to Reference Books, among other bibliographies.. Annotation c.
