Faithfully transcribed in order to reflect the manner of speaking of each informant, the tales begin with summaries in English, being followed by Isabel Cardigos and Paulo Correia's international classification, which, in addition to Brazil, includes numerous parallels from the Portuguese-speaking world (Angola, Cape Verde, Goa, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, St. Thomas and Prince, East Timor), as well as variants from the Iberian cultural area to which Portugal belongs (Spain, Spanish America, and the Sephardim).
