Description:Affirmations ~ Collected Works of Irony is a book I’ve created as a piece of perspective wisdom. While working on The $hitch, a friend of mine who is a former English professor, told me about the concept of Jean-Paul Sartre’s La Nausée. A title which relates to the expulsion of one’s outrage at the continual nonsense of the world often experienced by post-existentialists. From this I built the concept of a piece of literature created from reflection upon life’s experiences.This gave me the ground work for Affirmations and then it was only a matter of deciding which observations to include in it.I had also taken inspiration from a blog post that summed up the concept of ‘stock and flow’ with the example of a short story App; a rhythmic piece of literature that’s read by tapping your mobile or handheld device. The idea of flow was essential to me and I couldn’t imagine relating existence without it.The writing provided me a great challenge in that I was editing my own work, so I had to think carefully about the point I was trying to make. Not only was it important for me to know what was being said, the rest of the audience needed to understand as well. With only one set of eyes going through everything, it proved to be an upgrading experience.The results are intended to be stocked full of humour and are designed to appeal to anyone who has experienced life.
