Description:The idea for Little Pegleg came as an answer to our families´ Weekly excursion to Church on Sunday. We had about 20 minutes drive and the kids would get bored, so I told them a story about a young man who had lost his leg and wore a wooden peg. He traveled about on a pirates ship as a deckhand and encountered numerous exciting and scary situations. I left the kids on a ´cliffhanger´ as we drove into the church parking lot. Next week, I merely had to ask where we had left off and all the kids wanted to remind me and find out what happened. We continued from the spot where we had left off. This went on for ten years. Though this Pegleg Book has little resemblance to the Pegleg of years past, the story was a good teaching tool for my kids to instill spiritual values through story telling on a consistent basis. Thus, spirituality entered a practical world view for my kids. By merely placing Pegleg into everyday moral struggles that we deal with, but changing them enough to mask their real nature, exciting scenarios emerged for the Book we have today. The Book is dealing with more mature circumstances even though the young eight pirates face them head-on, sometimes. What fun it was writing this book.
