Description:The Chautauqua Institution is acultural, religious, educational and recreationaloasis situated on Chautauqua Lake in the southwestcorner of New York State. A summer training groundfor young dancers, musicians, actors and artists, itis also a center of learning that attracts students ofall ages, from curious teens to lifelong learners. And mostly it is families, not just mothers andfathers and kids, but grandparents and aunts anduncles and cousins and friends. It is also tennis andgolf and sailing, theater, opera, classrooms anddance. The nine week summer season is divided intonine weeks each assigned a theme. A morning lectureis given by a prominent speaker in the historicamphitheater and evening performances vary from theChautauqua Symphony to the Beach Boys; from the balletto the Tommy Dorsey Band; and from Marcel Marceau toMark Russell. She graduated from DenisonUniversity in 1982, with a bachelor of arts degree. Laurie resides in New York City with her husband,Jonathan Nassif, also a Chautauquan. Laurie and Jonwere married in Chautauqua's Chapel of the GoodShepherd, August 21, 1999.A Year in Central Park, Laurie's first book, waspublished by Rizzoli International Publications in1982. In addition, Laurie's photography has beenpublished in numerous books, magazines, calendars, andcatalogues.Laurie works as a free-lance producer of fashionshoots.
