The creature is telepathic, but with its aid, he discovers that he also has such latent talent and other abilities which he needs to rediscover.He learns that he is somewhere in the interior of the continent of Tamara, which in the midst of great turmoil and change, and as circumstances draw him into the spreading conflict on the side of the vanquished rulers of the sacked Stoc kingdom, he joins them in their fight for survival against the marauding Great World Empire. This decision places him in conflict with the powerful sorcery and magi wielded by the dark Drefos-mu sect and their warlock Borik-zi, who have allied with the Empire in a move to subjugate all of Tamara to the will of their evil living god Gunvir-te.In a society that honors good magic and the Druids that wield it, Djorn soon realizes that he also possess some considerable access to the conjuring of magic, and using his telepathic friendship with the alien tshamastas, he finally rouses them out of their normal lassitude and neutrality.The struggle is not easy, and the powers of the dark living god are almost invincible, but finally Djorn agrees to accompany a few of the tshamasta sages on a quest to seek out the dubious assistance of their mythical god.
