Description:The excavation at Rosepark was centered on a complex of ditches discovered by aerial photography. The findings, which are divided into five phases, revealed a hilltop enclosure comprising a large number of ditches, burnt features, cereal-drying kilns, souterrains, structures and an entrance way to the complex. There was human burial at the top of the hill. The finds, along with radiocarbon dates, suggest that the site was occupied throughout most of the first millennium AD. The hilltop enclosure was defended by ditched fortifications from perhaps the late 3rd century to the 7th/8th century. An open settlement may have evolved from the ditched defences but the site may have also fallen out of use as a habitation site by the 9th century AD. It is proposed that the site was fortified by the first Anglo-Norman invaders in the late 12th century. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
