He lived among you for many years, when the nineteenth century was yet in her teens, he sang of you and of your country songs that many of you remember hearing your Fathers sing: these old songs with their pleasant memories, To the West, Oh Woodman Spare that Tree, A Life on the Ocean Wave, Cheer, Boys, Cheer, Mighty Niagara, and many and many more. And because he, my dear old grandfather, Henry Russell, knew you and loved you and lived among you for so long, perhaps I feel no such great stranger after all.
