My husband, Adam, and I were the third couple on the first trip to Masindi, Uganda. There to assist the two adoptive families, all of us thought that the mission was over when the court victory was secure. However, on our last day in Africa, we visited the orphanage where their infant girls were first left. Thus begins a series of intertwining stories with a growing number of people grafted in. Susan, an orphan herself, is mother to over 200 other orphans. She survived one of Kony’s nightmare attacks on a largely peaceful agrarian people. Isaac is the only son of his mother; he begins life under the heavy expectations of his earthly father, but he finds and fulfills the plans of his Heavenly Father as founder of Family Spirit Orphanage. And then, of course, there are the children- over 200 orphans who are the true spirit of this family. And of this story.
