Description:Excerpt from Memoirs of the California Academy of Sciences, Vol. 5: No; 1; The Thalattosauria, a Group of Marine Reptiles From the Triassic of California Specimens were found at numerous localities in the extensive outcrops of this limestone, but the principal collections were made at localities known as Smith's Cove, Bear Cove, Grassy Point and North Fork. The first three localities are all on Brock Mountain, at the southern end of the belt of limestone north of the Pitt. Smith's Cove1 lies on the southwestern side of the ridge, Grassy Point2 on the northwestern side, and Bear Cove3 near the middle of the eastern side. North Fork4 is a locality on the. North fork of Squaw Creek and about two miles northwest of the Kelley Ranch. The bones occur in practically all horizons of the limestone, but good material is more common, or at least more easily Obtained, in the softer, slightly shaly layers well exposed at the localities mentioned.
