On the 9th of April, 1787, just eight days before the establishment of the Grand Lodge of Maryland, the Com panions named issued a dispensation or Warrant to David Stoddard and six others, to erect a Royal Chapter of Jeru salem attached to Lodge No. L5, (afterwards Washington Lodge, No. At Fells Point, Baltimore, The Chapter thus formed was subsequently known as Washington Chapter, No. 1, and as will be seen hereafter, in 1822 merged with Concordia Chapter, no. 5, and is today existing as Con cordia Chapter, No. L.
