Dr Chan graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, HKU in 1972, specializing in Nephrology. He has long been interested in classical Chinese poetry, teaching himself to compose Chinese poetry as a secondary school student at Queen’s College. His works have a particular aesthetic poetic and reminiscent of the literati, but with a modern air. Dr Chan specializes in cursive script, the most expressive style of Chinese calligraphy. His strokes are elegant, forceful and full of personal characteristics.
