One of his novels in youth caused heated discussion at that time but was protected by Chairman Mao. He was sent to Xinjiang to be "reformed" through labor for 16 years, called himself as a "Uighur post-doctor". Frozen for 25 years, "Long Live Youth" had constantly been best-selling so far, "Scenery Here" created in 1970s about Xin Jiang won him the 2015 Mao Dun Literature Prize. Although never went to university, he had served as a professor or honorary professor in dozens of universities, received doctorates from the Far East Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences and the University of Macau. He is now 83 years old, still insists on daily writing, stays active in the literary world and publishes articles in the press. Even grows thin, now he can walk 8000 steps a day and swim into the deep sea, shares the same breath with the motherland and the people all the country.
