I tried to get my nieces to read it but they found it "boring and too hard to understand". I didn't want them to lose out on the wonderfulness of the story, so I decided to rewrite it for today's youngsters. The book is out of copyright, so I was able to take it and make it my own. I've tried to keep as close to the original tone as possible and the story is still the same. The original version was word-heavy and complicated in its structure and it's this that I've changed.There is an emphasis on God's word in the book, which I have retained as it's integral to the story.The book was originally written for 8-year-olds which I find amazing now - it's more suited to at least 12 and upwards - way upwards! Honestly, this old adult enjoyed it every bit as much as I did the first time round.I hope you love it as much as I do.Heidi is a 5-year-old orphan when she is brought to live on a Swiss mountain with her bad-tempered grandfather.
