The whole campus shuts down for games during the season, tailgaters are everywhere, and alumni and out-of-town fans start showing up on Wednesday night for a Saturday game. If you like beer, tailgating, and football, you'll love school here."But if you choose to attend Louisiana State, don't be alarmed when you first hear of Dead Week. Well, actually, you can be alarmed, but circumstances aren't as dire as they first may appear. Dead Week has nothing to do with meeting your maker; instead, it has to do with the week before finals. But while you may be trying to cram all of the knowledge meant to be acquired within a semester into a teeny-tiny week, don't forget to eat! The Chancellor's Pancake Breakfast is a time when you can not only eat for free in both dining halls, but you can also hang with the Chancellor a rare opportunity not to be missed.But don't expect an intimate atmosphere."If you want a small school, LSU is not for you. The lecture classes are a pure representation of it. It is very hard to be in a class with 300 to 375 students. As hard as the University tries, it becomes apparent in these lecture classes that you are truly just a number in a massive university."And don't show up to class in a pirogue (pronounced pee-rogue a Cajun canoe, originally made from hollowed cypress logs). People don't really take these to class like in The Waterboy.There's so much more to a school than a brochure or campus visit can tell you.
