Despite the film rights and plagiarism dispute, the plot was serialised as a daily newspaper comic strip in 1961 - one factor that attracted the producers' interest according to her interview - Cubby Broccoli enjoyed reading the strip, and had tried to acquire film rights because of it, only to learn of the legal dispute, and that they'd been bought from Ian Fleming's publicist.
