The two joined and had a wonderful life. The Creator even blessed them with a son; they named Ahanu (He Laughs). After Wildcat was voted as chief, when Chief Flying Eagle stepped down, things seemed to be working out for the Southern Piegan Blackfoot. They had peace for a few winters and felt confident they would continue along this path. However, that confidence in the future ended abruptly with the appearance of the white man. They claimed the Great White Father bought all the Native’s lands, which the tribes could not understand. How could anyone trade for lands that did not belong to the one trading it? The Natives believed the lands were the Creators, so how could a man do something like this. The tribes were at first excited to see new people, but that did not last long when they found out how greedy the new white tribes were. But the real trouble started when part of an exploration group got lost and ended up in the Blackfoot territory. There they saw and talked to the white woman, Sara. They claimed she was being held against her will and would not accept it when she said she was there because she wanted to be. The white leader could not understand why a white woman would want to live with savages. Word reached her brother that she was alive and living with a tribe in the Teton Mountain range. He offers a reward for her return, which brought all sorts of men into the Indian territory, as the white man called it.
